TOO MUCH CHEESE! XD

"Ang true love ay para sa matatapang na tao lamang."

I went to the movies yesterday to watch HP, and went back again today to watch My Amnesia Girl ^o^ . Now I'm no fan of John Lloyd or Toni, didn't even know they were having a movie, and have not seen the trailer at all. I only learned about it cos my boyfriend told me (but he hasn't seen it though), and I also read about it in Chi's blog so that kinda got me curious. I don't really watch local films regularly since they just don't interest me that much. The last time I actually went to watch one in the cinema was already more than a year ago. But last month I saw Paano Na Kaya (and Kim Chiu's epic Bogs, Shinota mo ako!), Anne and Sam's Babe I Love You, and the star-studded Here Comes The Bride which I found very hilarious. But I don't know why I felt compelled to watch My Amnesia Girl today, and even brought my mother along. She also has no idea what the movie is all about. XD

Well one thing I'm sure of though is that I'm obviously in for a romantic comedy. John Lloyd is Apollo while Toni is Irene, the sweet and loving perfect couple (with an extra large serving of cheese and corn). But at one point something went wrong with their relationship and the next time they meet, Irene doesn't recognize Apollo at all and quickly explains that she was in an accident and had amnesia. And so begins a crazy tale of love, forgiveness and second chances (with an extra large serving of cheese and corn).

Yes, this movie is indeed too cheesy and too corny! XD Not that I mean that in a bad way. Based from real life experience, I can only say that when you're in love, being cheesy and corny really comes naturally. Trust me in this, cos my boyfriend is the epitome of cheese and corn (and that's why I love him so much! *hearts* ^0^). One of the main highlights of this film are these sappy pick-up lines which Apollo and Irene keep saying to each other. I just couldn't help but roll my eyes at lines such as:

  • "Ice ka ba? Gusto kasi kitang i-crush."

  • “Ulan ka ba? Kasi lupa ako. Sa ayaw at sa gusto mo, sa akin ang bagsak mo.”

  • “Kung ikakasal ka saan mo gusto? Ako kasi sa tabi mo.”

  • And there's gadzillions of those in this flick! LOL This film also has a simple but unusual plot, a refreshing change from all the typical melodramatic Philippine stories. And although I think there may be some parts which were quite impossible and unrealistic, but I like the core messages of fighting for that second chance, seeking for redemption, moving on from the hurts of the past and holding on to that one true love. This film somehow just wraps in all of these themes nicely, and I also couldn't help but break down in tears. (I easily cry in majority of films which is really weird.) In addition, John Lloyd was pretty funny here. Plus he was backed up by a wacky set of best buds who also gave me the laughs. His solid bunch of loud and overly supportive female and non-female fans inside the movie house also contributed to this enjoyable experience.

Oh, and one more thing. I do know someone named Apollo in real life, so that's really just kinda freakin' weird. 0____0

    IN LOVE WITH YOH!

As part of my determined attempt to finish all of my so-called backlogs, I saved a bunch of manga scans in my PSP and brought them to work. One of the titles is Koukou Debut (aka High School Debut), which is a 13-volume manga by Kawahara Kazune published in 2003-2008. It tells the story of a high school freshman named Nagashima Haruna who has decided to fall in love in high school and get herself a boyfriend. However, Haruna is totally clueless on fashion and love, and so to achieve her goal, she asks the cold but dashing Komiyama Yoh to coach her on how to become attractive. This is then the start of an odd relationship which eventually blossoms into a beautiful love story of a very unlikely couple.

Four years ago, my online friends Fangli and Piercing Sword, gave me a few chapters of this manga. It was still unfinished back then but it was so good! It was only about a year ago when I downloaded the completed volumes but I still didn't read it... UNTIL YESTERDAY. And then I went into my crazy raging fangirl love-love mode! :)

I SWEAR! Who wouldn't go into a crazy raging fangirl love-love mode over him...

    Komiyama Yoh
    *sighhhhhhhh...*

Seriously, I enjoyed this manga series uber-tremendously not just because of the killer looks of Yoh, but actually because of everything that makes Koukou Debut the manga it is. The artwork by itself is awesome. The drawings are clean and consistent, and the panels are structured so strategically. I swear there were a lot of instances when I turned the page and I was in for unexpected (and yummy) surprises! The character designs are very pleasing to look at, with dynamic facial expressions and really cool outfits! And the story is just so wonderful! Although it is fast paced and straight to the point, yet it doesn't fail to pull out various emotional responses from the reader. And despite the many twists and turns of events, there is something very concrete about the plot and the characters. Yoh, Haruna and their circle of friends each had solid personalities which never changed but rather matured amazingly throughout the series. Even supporting characters were developed in a way where you can't hate them but can somehow sympathize with them.

I laughed and cried when I was reading Koukou Debut. I felt Haruna's excitement and her pain, I experienced Yoh's confusion and his affections, I drowned with them as they immersed in their love. I just couldn't help but connect with the story and be reminded of the highs and lows, the joys and pains, the triumphs and frustrations of high school life. And then I wished I also lived and loved like Yoh and Haruna did. I wished everyday for me was like a debut too.

Despite all of these long and incoherent ramblings, I am honestly at a loss to describe how perfect this shoujo manga is. Koukou Debut is sweet and funny. It is a wholesome kind of sexy romance that does not stoop to smut. It is marvelously crafted and superbly entertaining. I have nothing else to say but pure praises and admiration for this series, and I highly recommend this to anyone who just wants to fall in love. I couldn't stop turning the pages at all, and as the series came to its inevitable end, everything was wrapped up perfectly and I was left with a warm sense of satisfaction and pleasure in my heart.

    Yes, I definitely am! ^____^

    P.S.
I wish they'll do an anime adaptation of this manga but I really don't know if it's possible. A live action movie is in the works though, and although I'm skeptical but I'm also quite excited. :)

    HOI HOI!

I'm so sorry that it's been almost 3 months since I last updated my blog. Primary reason is because I've been SO LAZY, and secondly, cos I was already contemplating on giving up on this blog. I've been quite busy with work and is now at a point in my life where I need to make serious life-changing decisions. And so I figured that I probably will have to altogether abandon this blog soon depending on the course of my life. But right now I'm feeling envious of other people's blogs, so I decided to start writing again. Until when I will continue to blog is a question I'd rather not think about for now.

It's also been so long since I last watched a korean drama. If I am not mistaken, the last k-series I watched was actually 2007's The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince, which I watched some two years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed that series, btw, but never really got to write about it. I've heard of great k-dramas (and even bought DVDs) but just never had the passion to watch them, as they are becoming more and more too angsty for my taste and usually take a long time to finish. Even last year's Boys Over Flowers, which I painstakingly downloaded raw with softsubs, only held my attention for 2 episodes.

So it's really quite a surprise that after I've read from Ate Yeyen's blog that hardsubs are available for My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, I impulsively jumped into the bandwagon and started DIRECT downloading the first two episodes. (It wasn't even a torrent file!) And one random evening after work, I decided to watch a random file from my hard drive and chanced upon those two episodes.

This is a 16-episode romantic comedy telling the not-quite-fortunate(?) tale of a young man who accidentally unleashes a gumiho (nine-tailed fox) from a painting, and how their unusual relationship springs into a great love that surpasses all things (however cliche that may actually sound XD). As much as I would like to elaborate more and give a detailed episode-by-episode recap, I think it would be best to just watch the series for yourself (and get those recaps from more qualified sites like dramabeans ). Since it's pretty much light hearted and funny, so it's so easy and fun to watch. Trust me when I say that every episode will leave you wanting to go on to the next, and when you're all finished you'll get horrible drama withdrawal symptoms and will want to rewatch the series all over again (or like me, watch youtube videos and download just about anything related to it!). But don't let the after effects discourage you from watching cos it will be a total loss if you don't. You'd be missing out on at least three things:

    1. The adorable Lee Seung Gi!

I don't know this guy and I swear that when I first saw him I didn't think he was good looking at all. And I swear that until now I still think that way. ^o^ But despite that, I have been totally captivated by this guy! With his charming personality, boyish grin and cute dimples, I just couldn't help but fall in love with his portrayal of Cha Dae Woong. He surprises me with his mischievous antics and impresses me with how his character grew in the story. And when I later learned that he is a singer in real life, I was absolutely surprised and impressed at how strong and smooth and wonderful his voice is! I am now a true convert! And I gladly surrender and wallow in my Lee Seung Gi fandom. *hearts*

    2. The dazzling Shin Min Ah!

I must have seen around six of Shin Min Ah's movies. But I think the only TV series I've ever seen her in was Beautiful Days, where she portrayed Lee Byung Hun's bratty sister. I've always thought of her as pretty, but in this drama where she plays Miho the Gumiho, I can only think of her beauty as otherworldly. It doesn't matter how messy her hair is, or how she never seems to change her clothes, or how ridiculous looking is the (action school) bag that she's carrying around -- she's just so radiant and dazzling! Absolutely gorgeous! The combination of her innocence and spunk makes Miho such a lovable character that you can't help but be bewitched.

    3. The winning tale of Forbidden LOVE!

I often equate Kdramas with Angst + Tragedy. But thank God for the Hong sisters who not only gave this series an appealing plot, but have also infused it with a good dose of comic relief and amusing twists. Add to that a great mix of supporting characters and a wonderful OST to boot (Seung Gi-sshi singing 2 of the tracks + Lee Sun Hee's Fox Rain = WIN!). Every episode never failed to make me laugh, and also cry. And every episode always left me craving for the next, while silently cheering and praying for our Hoi Hoi couple. I must admit though that somewhere in the middle, the story fell into the typical depressing korean melodrama that seems to go around in circles. But thankfully it didn't drag on too long! I won't tell you how it ends, but overall, I'd say I was quite satisfied and happy with this series and will definitely be re-watching this, as well as sharing it with my friends.

Hoi Hoi, GO watch it now!!! ^_______________^

    HEALTH AND HEART

Today I will talk about some health-related issues, and the latter part will focus more on heart-related stories. XD

So this morning I had some blood tests done on me. It’s my first time to undergo these kinds of tests, but I really need baseline liver profiles to make sure I didn’t acquire the HepB virus from my patient. I was a bit terrified of the lab results because I know that lately I’ve been so un-healthy. *sad* I think I’ve gained weight, and mass too! I’ve been eating more sweets and fats, and binging on fastfood and junk. I feel that my whole system is just so messed up, and right now I’d really prefer some discipline and self-control in my current lifestyle. I wish I was more non-sedentary. *sigh*

Well anyway, so the tests results came up, and I was shocked. They were all...NORMAL!

    Fasting Blood Sugar 60 (Expected Range 70 - 105)
    Creatinine 0.79 (Expected Range 0.5 - 1.5)
    Blood Uric Acid 5.1 (Expected Range 2.5 - 6.6)
Total Cholesterol 202 (Expected Range <200)
    Triglycerides 87 (Expected Range <150)
    HDL 46 (Expected Range 45 - 65)
    LDL 138.6 (Expected Range <100)
    SGPT/ALT 9.2 (Expected Range <45)
    SGOT/AST 7.0 (Expected Range <34)
    Hepatitis B Surface Antigen: NON-REACTIVE

    [*Creatinine measures kidney function; BUA tells you if you have arthritis; HDL is good cholesterol while LDL is bad cholesterol;
and SGPT/ALT and SGOT/AST are liver function tests]

So... Does this mean I’m HEALTHY!?!

Hooray! My lifestyle found justification! I can binge again!

    ...Or NOT. XD

Despite the normal values, I still want to change the way I am. I know I can’t have the right curves in an instant (heck, I don’t think I’d even get them in this lifetime! XD), but I want to slowly change the way I live my life. I want to be truly healthy because, if God is willing, I want to live long and well. I want to accomplish many things, make a difference in some way, and have the strength to sustain and support my parents and my future husband and children. I want to look at my patients in the eye and convincingly tell them, "Hey, living a healthy lifestyle is possible. I am an example." I want to break free from my image of being big and fat. All these years I’ve never been anything but that. Maybe it is time for a change. And I pray that God will help me change - inside and out - for the better.

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I’ve received updates on how my best friend is faring right now. She was placed on epidural anesthesia last night and contrary to the plan to do a CS on her, a forceps delivery was done instead. Cath went through a terrible ordeal last night. Her vital signs went berserk, and her heart was beating rapidly up to 140bpm (not good for someone with severe aortic stenosis) and then went flat at one point! She was intubated and hooked to a ventilator plus other tubes, and I heard she’s congested right now. She’s lying in ICU for goodness sake! Her sister (who's also a doctor) told me Cath almost died, and I cried when I learned that. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her that way, and I prayed in faith and in desperation. I asked God to please not take her, she is so precious to all of us. I’m sure many people whose lives she has touched were praying for her healing too.

Also, her baby Sonja was fighting for her little life as well. Born prematurely, the little angel had to get a dose of surfactant to help mature her underdeveloped lungs, and she was also intubated and placed inside an incubator. I can just picture her so tiny and fragile, like her mom, trying to be brave and strong in facing this world. My heart just goes out to both Mom and baby!

This morning though, I’ve received text messages saying that Cath is already awake and alert! *happy* They plan to wean her off the mech vent, and although still in critical condition, she’s already recovering and will be placed on close observation for the next few days. Baby Sonja is also looking better, and responding well to her medications. She’s a fighter, as her aunt described, and a miracle baby, as her father said. Amidst all these, I can only say that GOD IS REALLY REALLY AWESOME and HE ANSWERS PRAYERS! And that HE LOVES US SO MUCH to hear our cries, and HE LOVES CATH AND BABY SONJA EVEN MORE. I feel sad that I couldn’t be there with them personally to give support but I know, more importantly, that THE ULTIMATE HEALER has been working and supporting them in this difficult time, and yes, HE IS DEFINITELY IN CONTROL! HE WILL NEVER LEAVE CATH AND BABY SONJA IN DANGER!

PRAISE GOD INDEED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH LORD! TO HIM BE ALL GLORY!!!

I can’t wait to see Cath when I go to Manila next month! I hope by then, she and her baby will already be at home, comfy and in their best health. ^_____^

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Other random stuffs...

Last night I decided NOT to watch Be Strong Geum Soon and Hello My Lady because I don’t feel like watching them. I lost interest so I’ll probably just return them next month. Instead of watching the other DVDs in my list, I ended up watching Petshop of Horrors, Blue Submarine No.6, and an episode of Princess Princess. I am so thoughtless! I never seem to accomplish what I plan. 0__0

At least right now, I’m trying to finish reading Eclipse, but just not progressing fast enough. I am plainly not so interested despite it being an easy read. I honestly can’t bring myself to care about Edward-Bella-Jacob and their teenage fantasy romance, and I’m already near closing the third book! I guess it just don’t appeal much to me, and I'm always annoyed at Bella. She is such an unlikeable character. I do like Edward sometimes for his mushy moments. And I know this will come off as ultra-extra-mega-so cheesy (ehehe ^o^) but the infallible way he loves reminds me of my boyfriend... Yiheee!!!<3 (I did say CHEESY!!! XD) And to end this mush...

We are celebrating our HEPPY 33rd ANNIMONTHSARY TODAY! \(^o^)/

We are so blessed to have a relationship that just keeps getting better and better each day. I am soOoOooOOooo soOooOoooooOo LUCKY to have gotten the most loving and most faithful and most understanding and most patient and most generous and most pampering and most humorous and most inspiring and most supportive and most charming and most romantic and most... [insert random thinkable and unthinkable positive adjectives here!] ... in the entire universe!!! I will never trade him for anything in the world, not even for a million Edwards. XD

    <3<3<3 I Love You Suoh, my c.b.! <3<3<3 ^x^

    (cheesy! cheesy! cheesy!)

    UPDATES OF MY LIFE (AGAIN!)

I'm sitting here in the hospital pharmacy, leeching off the hospital broadband using "Lorna".

What the heck is a "Lorna"? I'll tell you about it some other time. LOLz! For now, here are some random updates of my life, since I've been away for more than a month. You will soon learn why...

    • 01. WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION!
Because of the recent move, we terminated our DSL connection. I was planning to get connected to PLDT DSL once we settled down but that was never realized (see number two). It makes me sad to be offline, but for the past two months, I actually accomplished a number of stuffs (i.e. read my books, clean up my room) without the internet tempting me all the time. I know deep down that the internet robs me of my precious time and I really don't accomplish much in life when I'm in front of a PC. So I'm now reconsidering if I really need that DSL connection. I'm not home most of the time anyway. It's probably wiser to do some cost-cutting, and this would hopefully cut me off my idleness as well.

    • 02. WE'VE MOVED AGAIN!
I mentioned last time that we were leaving EVA UNIT-01 because of some problems. We only stayed in that unit for two weeks. We moved into a two-bedroom bungalow unit last August 22, and I thought that it was the end of our problems. BOY, I WAS SO WRONG. During our first week in UNIT-02, some stranger was able to enter our compound, and BORE A HOLE IN ONE OF OUR BEDROOM WINDOW SCREENS!!! We later learned that all the houses within that compound have been robbed of some stuffs, and even the neighboring houses have been robbed too! My parents were totally freaked out and we had to close down all the windows and curtains, making the place one huge sauna bath. We finally decided that the place was not habitable, and we were out of the place after 2 weeks of stay. So last September 5, we moved for the third time to another apartment very near our old residence, and although a bit cramped, but I think we feel a whole lot better and comfortable here.

One of the downsides of all these transferring is that we have exerted so much effort in cleaning and moving. My Mom especially had to leave from work just to clean the house and pack our stuffs (and she can be really super-diligent when it comes to cleaning!) I feel sad that I wasn't home to help her. Most of the time I wasn't in CDO because of my work, so I can only trust other people to help my parents with moving.

The most painful loss during all these time is that I have spent so much money already. TOO MUCH. Each time we move to a new house, we had to pay for the laborers and the truck drivers, not to mention do some repairs and buy doorknobs/locks, electrical equipment, etc. The owner of EVA UNIT-01 returned most of my deposit, and even apologized to us. We parted in good terms. But the owner of UNIT-02, cunning as a snake, charged us with PhP9000 just for two weeks of stay! I was seething with dissatisfaction since I felt that we were at a disadvantage. My parents were so emotionally shook up to the point of losing weight, and even our dog lost weight as well probably since she was up all night barking the intruders away. I didn't want any more problems though so I just accepted his terms and wish I don't have to do any further business with him in the future (and he should cross his fingers as well and wish he'll have no business with me in the future as well).

      Bitter. XD

    • 03. MY SISTER IS ALREADY IN JAPAN.
She left Cebu last September 7, and is now experiencing Japan. OooOohhh... I am so envious! She told me about their train/bus rides, their crazy rollercoaster ride on the Thunder Dolphin, and their work stuffs. She also described her trip to Akihabara, and the first thing she told me was, "Atsy, daghan kayu anime dinhi!!!" (Sis, there's so many anime stuffs here!!!)

I am just so GREEN with envy.

    • 04. I BOUGHT A NEW STETHOSCOPE.
This is not exactly part of the budget plan, but my ever reliable black Classic Littman Stethoscope finally rested in pieces last week. I occasionally have problems auscultating but I thought that my ears are problematic, and not my steth. Well, around 2 weeks ago, I noticed that the earpiece wore out and that the tubings have developed HUGE CRACKS. Afraid of having nothing to use at work, I fixed it up with some adhesive tape (plaster XD), and it was fine until last week, when I realized that I could no longer hear anything with it! It was already making a hollow sound, which affects my examination and diagnosis. I had to say goodbye to my black steth, which has served me well for 7 years, and hurriedly purchased a new Classic Littman Steth, this time in RASPBERRY PINK. Hehehe My other choices were NAVY BLUE and HUNTER GREEN.

It wasn't cheap though and I even had to make a cash advance for it. Huhuhu...
But I can't work without one so I had no choice. T___T

    • 05. MY PORTABLE DVD PLAYER BROKE DOWN.
This is so sad. In fact just thinking about it devastates me. I'm actually so fond of that player so it's hard to imagine that I can't use it anymore. About a month ago, I placed it inside a laundry bag and brought it down the ER. I hardly bring down my player but that time I was in the mood for some music. I placed the bag on a chair, and a few minutes later, THE BAG FELL OFF!!! It wasn't a very strong impact, and the player was still fine then. I was still able to finish watching Gakuen Heaven. I noticed though that the USB port was no longer working. A few days later, I was watching Yokazura Quartet in Camiguin when the video suddenly froze. And then the player refused to read ANY discs at all! It just kept saying "LOADING" but the video doesn't load. I took it to an electronics shop and they told me that the lens broke and they do not sell that type of lens in CDO. I'm taking the player to Manila next month and pray that I'll find the appropriate lens there. I am really so sad over this because that player means so much to me and I envisioned a long future of using it. It broke down after 3 months because of my carelessness. *very very sad*

    • 06. I'M LEAVING FOR MANILA NEXT MONTH.
I'm off to Manila come October 11-19 for personal matters. LOLz Actually, it's my boyfriend's birthday next month and I want to spend that special day with him. And I decided to use that time too to take a break from work, visit my friends, buy scrub suits and stuffs, and attend the COLLECTICON scheduled on October 11 in Robinson's Ermita. It will definitely feel like a trip down memory lane since Rob Ermita used to be my "territory". XD

I was talking to my classmate earlier this week and he told me of a conference sponsored by the Philippine Society of Emergency Physicians come November 9-10. Their programme is really interesting and I think we will learn much from the lectures, so we are thinking of attending it. Hopefully we can save enough money by then so that we can join that confe. As an added bonus, the Anime Overload Festival to be held in SMX Convention Hall in Mall of Asia is set on November 8, so I think that's a really wonderful coincidence that I don't want to miss! I will have to miss work again though. *sad!!!*

    • 07. FINISHED SOME BOOKS.
I finished reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons which is such a superb fast-paced exciting adventure. Every page leaves me amazed and wondering how the author has come up with such a brilliant plot and unexpected twists. And yes, it might be a bit controversial because it tackles on some sensitive topics, but I was never convinced that it was non-fiction. It was just a fun book to read, but I never took it seriously so I don't really bother with the controversies. Now I can finally watch the movie version (and see Tom Hanks in action, hehehe).

I also started reading the sequels of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga. I've read the first book Twilight last year, and although it was fun from time to time and made me giggle with glee in some parts, but I was never caught up in the Edward-Bella fandom. I just simply can't bring myself to rave over the books the same way I've raved over the Harry Potter series. And I just don't know why they keep comparing the two when they are both of different genres. But anyway, since my friends Jan and Joey have been telling me to read the rest of the saga (with Jan sending me pdf files of the book, and Joey actually lending me the hard copy!), I had no choice but to admit defeat. If you can't beat them, then join them. Hehehe I've put off reading the books for so long, and now I finally opened them. I've finished New Moon and currently reading Eclipse. Hopefully I'll finish Breaking Dawn as well this week. My opinions haven't changed at all though. And I think the only characters I like in the series are Alice and Carlisle, though not even them can bring me to fangirl level. Edward is sometimes likeable, but Robert Pattinson is NOT. XD

    • 08. DOWNLOADING...
I've lost my 300-something torrent list when my sister reformatted our Desktop PC. XD So right now I'm back to zero. I don't know if I'm actually relieved or frustrated. But it's more of a relief, I guess. I've always felt that the 300-something torrent list was binding me down. It made me feel that I was always chasing after something, that I was obliged to accomplish the downloads, and that somehow burdens me. Yes, they made me feel good, but they also weighed me down. I've always thought I am just TOO MUCH of a COMPULSIVE HOARDER.

Now I'm back to downloading again, but for now I've only queued Hetalia Axis Powers and Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. The hospital connection is kinda slow (we're running on SmartBro), and I feel like I'm back to my old days (but at least NOT the dial-up days, hehehe). I have somehow leeched 6 episodes of HAP and 4 episodes of Umineko in two nights. XD

That's it for now I guess. I am actually on 24hour duty now, and it's way past my bedtime. I still have to work tomorrow. It's fun to blog again, and hopefully I can do it more often. Maybe with "Lorna", I can keep this blog rolling.

Or being that I'm too lazy, then maybe not. XD

    PINK LADY

My korean penpal, Geum-sook, told me about a popular webtoon called PINK LADY, and even sent me a really nice postcard of it. Webtoons are korean webcomics that are found online, and unlike the traditional manwha which appear as black and white, these webtoons are in full color. These type of media are quite popular among netizens since they cover various genres and also invite comments and interactions from the readers.

Now going back to PINK LADY... I finally had the chance to browse through it today, and although I could not understand a thing, but I was left breathless with its magnificent artwork. The artist, Yeon Woo, is a college student affiliated with the most famous art university in South Korea, Hongik University, and this is also where the story takes place. Yeon Woo uses beautiful brush strokes to draw her characters and to convey their different emotions and experiences.

PINK LADY is about two art students, Han Gyeo-wul and Yun Hyeon-seok who meet accidentally in the university. They didn't know each other at first, but I think Gyeo-wul somehow felt a strange attraction to Hyeon-seok (maybe she found him mysterious?). I'm not so sure because I cannot understand what they are saying at all, but if I were in her shoes I'd probably feel that way!

I mean, who wouldn't be knocked silly with a smile like this!?

We later learn that they actually have a childhood memory from the past. When they were still kids, Gyeo-wul saw a little boy (Hyeon-seok) drawing in the sand in the playground, and she joined him and lent him her drawing book and coloring materials. They met everyday thereafter, and you can see that the little Gyeo-wul seems to bully little Hyeon-seok around. Hehehehe So cute! Anyway, one time while they were drawing, Hyeon-seok suddenly kissed her on her cheek, and she responded by punching him so hard that his nose bled. She then ran home in shock. The next day when she went to the playground, Hyeon-seok was no longer there, and they did not even get the chance to say goodbye.

Now years later, they meet again in the university. And through the many experiences they have, friends they meet and the constant bickering that they do, their tale of love begins.

The story spans 5 seasons, composing of around 15 pages per season. You can read it H E R E.
I'm currently browsing over season 2, just admiring the pretty drawings and not understanding a thing. LOL But despite the fact that I don't understand their conversations, I can at least get a good idea of what's happening by looking at the pictures. I hope some nice people will take the time to translate this great series. Or since it's currently being compiled into manwha volumes then maybe I will just have to wait for the scanlations (and when will that ever happen!? T___T). I also have a feeling that this has a great potential to spawn a TV drama series (that would be really cool!). 2008's SBS drama, I Love You starring Ahn Jae Wook was also based on a webtoon. And with its very high ratings, praises and fans, I don't see any reason why Pink Lady shouldn't also follow suit as well. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope we'll see more of this in the future.

Anyway, to wrap this entry up, I'm posting the two music videos that were made for Pink Lady. The first is You, You At Least by To Romance and shows some panels from the first season describing their childhood love. The second video is Spring After Winter by Soo Jung, and shows the last part of season 2. I really like these videos, especially the second. It brought tears to my eyes and I felt warm and fuzzy all over. XD

    Anyway, Enjoy! ^_____^

    FUSHIGI YUME

    Lately I've been having some dreams which range from bad to weird. Sometimes they make me laugh, and sometimes I wake up feeling, "what the...!?!". ^^;

For instance, before I woke up this morning, I dreamt that I was with my boyfriend. I forgot the early bits of the dream, but we eventually went off to eat at some sidewalk resto. I can't recall if we've started eating already or still haven't ordered yet, but then a spunky waitress served us a plate of scrambled eggs (she said there was crab meat in it) with lots of spring onions. We told her we didn't order it but she just shrugged and TOOK MY MONEY!!! So I went into ultra-super-hyper rage mode and ran after her, screaming like a mad lady, yelling that I will report her to her OM (err, operations manager?). The waitress was also unwilling to yield. I then went to the store owner and I was a bit surprised at her looks. She's like a mix of Hibiya Chitose from Chobits and Furukawa Sanae from CLANNAD, the type who's always willing to extend her hand in help. So I approached this lady, and told her what happened, and she said that she'd tell the waitress to return my money. Miss Lady Owner then told me her family name is "Buna" and she used to live in my city and coincidentally in my street but she moved when she got married. I told her that my mother's officemate's last name was also "Buna" but Miss Lady Owner didn't know her.

Anyway, the spunky waitress came back and it was time for her paycheck. She had a scowl on her face as she held several 500-peso bills (there were maybe 3 to 5) plus some other bills and coins. Then she gave most of it back to Miss Lady Owner saying that's it's a payment for something she broke, for some mistake she made, etc etc. Then she dropped all her money to the ground and cried, saying that she really wanted to keep her job and that she really needs money. I kinda felt bad for her but I also wanted to get what was mine, so I took PhP50 from the money she dropped (yes, that plate of scrambled eggs with crab meat and spring onions only cost fifty bucks!). A street kid clad in dirty clothes took the chance and started picking up some coins. I glared at him and demanded that he give it back. Then I left them.

When I went back to my table, I found that a lot of people had already gathered as if there was some sort of party, and then I recognized them as my boyfriend's officemates (well, in real life, I don't know any of his officemates, but they had a team building party last night which probably explains this part of the story). The crowd was rowdy and some were drunk, and I was worried they might have made my boyfriend drunk too, and then I saw him from a distance. He had a flushed face and obviously had too much to drink, and he was riding something that kept moving back and forth. I realized it was one of those lose-weight-chairs you see on Home TV Shopping. I started to approach him but then he started to move away. And then he was whisked off with the crowd in a sort of parade (I saw a parade last night XD), while he and his friend Al were side-by-side (to keep the balance), riding the lose-weight-chair, which turned out to be a huge, black leather vibrating sofa/massage chair. I couldn't get through the crowd, and everyone was just taking pictures with their camera phones. I hurriedly took out my Hello Kitty phone cos I wanted a souveneir pic too, but I lost sight of my boyfriend. And then I was alone.

The rest of the dream was a bit muddled already, but I guess there was a festival going on and I eventually ventured off into the huge auditorium/park where the parade will end and the show will start. I looked for my boyfriend and found him amidst the crowd. He was relatively sober then, and could only vaguely remember what happened. Then the program started and everything was a blur and then my mother was calling me, telling me to wake up.

It was such a freakin' weird experience!!! XD

What bothered me when I woke up was that early on in the dream, I remembered that my boyfriend was sitting with me, and then I snuggled close to him, and...

I CALLED HIM USING ANOTHER GUY'S NAME!!!! T______T

I was mortified in my dream, and even while asleep, I was mortified myself. And he didn't notice at first, and then I POINTED IT OUT TO HIM (but... why!?!) and then he was mortified too. I said I was sorry and that I was just confused because I just saw that other guy too. I told him I didn't mean it and that it was an honest mistake. He said it was OK but he looked really hurt. I felt hurt too even though I know it was just a dream and that I won't really do that in real life. Maybe that's why he went on a drinking spree later on in the dream. *very sad*

It was really such a freakin' disturbing experience. *sigh*
