[ 相楽夜 ]  YORU SAGARA

Haven't blogged anything decent for a while cos of RL matters. I'm still gonna write about that meeting with Kurohiko (yah, it's more than a month late already! *facepalm*) and I have to do an indie comics review (cos I promised someone~). I also have to write about a bunch of stuffs as well. Just gonna take my time doing all of these. Teehee~ But I thought of blogging now cos I want to fangirl-rant over something.*(*´∀`*)☆

Last Saturday, me and some CDOtaku people held an audition for several talented performers for an upcoming cosplay event. Now I won't go into details about the audition cos I'm not sure if I can share about it in public. Suffice it to say that I was quite pleased with the performances, and hope that they will be as awesome in said upcoming event.

Now one of the singers who auditioned was Yoru Sagara. If you can recall, I wrote a bit about him in a previous entry. The first time I heard him sing was during the TORCH II CDO LEG held last July 2011. At that time, I thought he had a great voice but wasn't really paying much attention. Looking back, maybe I should have. Hahaha!

Well, after the Torch II event, he just slipped out of my mind. But during my internet browsing moments, I kept stumbling on his name (maybe because common friends are subscribed to his Facebook and Youtube channels), and it piqued my curiosity. So I read up a bit about him and learned that he is a local amateur singer who has been doing quite a number of covers, mostly Vocaloid songs, and he has been uploading his song versions on Nico Nico Douga and Youtube. To add to his credentials, he also performed during the recent VOCA★FUSION event which was held in SMX Convention Center (you can watch video here). Now, not being so familar with Vocaloid songs (well, excuuuuuuuussssse me for being such a cave person!) and not entirely too fond of song covers, I admit that I wasn't exactly that interested at first. Until... I heard his collab cover of 背徳の記憶〜The Lost Memory〜 and I was totally blown away. In fact, even until now, I still get blown away whenever I listen to that song. As a matter of fact, said song is set on repeat in my player as I'm writing this. (*ノ▽ノ)

As of now, I'm only subscribed to TWO Youtube channels, which are JamesNintendoNerd and yes, Yoru Sagara. But I must admit that I never got around to listening to all his videos (cos SRSLY, there are A LOT of them), and as I said, I'm not at all familiar with Vocaloid songs (despite having more than 5GB of them in my hard drive!). Well, fast forward to last Saturday... He was already there when I arrived, and I thought, well, he just seems like an ordinary guy. Despite being popular online, he wasn't the airy type. He didn't even mention that he has...

... almost 3000 Youtube subscribers and almost half million pageviews!!!!
I mean, SRSLY!!!??!!!  (((( ;°Д°))))

Hime asked me then if I have heard his version of 1/3 の純情な感情, which incidentally is my most favorite Rurouni Kenshin ED song. I said, "No, I haven't." (Boo to me!) So I decided to check it out the other day, and yah, it blew me away too and I was compelled to click [download] and put it in my music player. I'm actually in a bit of an RK hype right now (more about that next time), so hearing that cover is kinda fanning the flames of my fandom. Check out Yoru's cover here:

Lovely~ It gave me goosebumps. (^ω^)

Yoru sang this Vocaloid song called, "Mr Music" (again, I have no idea what it is until I googled it just now), and initially the sound system wouldn't cooperate and kept crashing. But he waited patiently for it to get fixed, and we were also actually eagerly anticipating. And he did not disappoint! I mean, he is not perfect, but he has such a lovely voice. He has his own rendition of the song, and not just tastelessly singing it. I think his Nihongo sounds legitimate, and not as if he's just the boy from the next town (which he is, btw).  And I think that just because you make great online videos, it doesn't necessarily follow that you can perform well on stage (especially when said audition stage is within the premises of a fitness club! XD) But it seems he has better stage presence compared to last year, though he could still further improve on that.

I would have wanted to pose more questions, ask for an autograph/picture with him, and bully demand force coerce request him to sing Pigstar's Shoudou and maybe some Uta*Pri Songs!!! (fangirl KYAHHH~!!!) But ... I forgot to speak (*facepalm once more*). I think all of us were quite pleased, though I still don't know if he passed the audition. I hope he gets to perform during the event, so I can fangirl some more  uh, *cough*cough* so we can have the pleasure of listening to him sing again. ♬

相楽夜, がんばれ! ヽ(^。^)ノ

LIFE-CHANGING

So I was riding the jeepney home with my earphones on and blaring at the highest volume.
As I was nearing my stop, I took off my earphones, and then promptly heard the intro of a familiar song playing from the radio...

And the first thing that popped into my mind was:
"Wow. If there was one song on earth that I would consider as life-changing, this would probably be it."

My being a doctor. My college degree. My otaku lifestyle. My occasional anti-social behavior.
My emotional defense mechanisms. My approach to my relationships. My cynical and eccentric moments.
Yeah. All of these and more.
Blame this Aaron Carter song.

I think it's funny, but then I'm not really laughing.

I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me

A few weeks back, I saw an MV of the korean ballad group 2AM on TV. I didn't like it, and openly expressed that to a friend. She then teased me by tagging me in Facebook with their newest video. I didn't really want to watch it, but I thought that it would be rude not to since I was tagged, and so I did... and I fell in love with it! ( ^ω^) ❤

"I wonder if all day long you're living in memories like this, just like me..."

"I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me" is about a guy who cannot forget about the girl from his past and is suffering emotionally deep down, and he wonders if the girl also feels his pain. (Many thanks to the english translator for this~!) I think it's corny to say this (but I'm saying it anyway ^^;), but somehow I can relate to that kind of thinking and maybe, even to that kind of pain, and perhaps that is one of the reasons why I was so moved by this MV. I'm not much of a ballad fan, but I find the melody of this song pleasant and poignant, as if tugging at edges my heart. The video is very beautiful, with all the artistic expressions of paper flying and images blurring and the girl's bright red hair nicely and sharply contrasting against the soft monochromes. I also like the intro with the really adorable glass piano music box, but thought that scene with the girl in the cabinet with candles and stuffs was hauntingly freaky...

2AM is a four-member group under JYP Entertainment, the record label known for managing artists like Rain (before he started his own company) and Wonder Girls (who made their mark in the Philippines with their single, "Nobody"). 2AM debuted in July 2008, and with the six-member group 2PM make up the boyband One Day.The members of 2AM are Jo Kwon (leader), Lee Changmin, Im Seulong and Jung Jinwoon. They have released a number of studio and mini-albums, and have also started making their way in Japan with the release of their Japanese single early this year.

VELTPUNCH + STAR TREK

I was at the mall earlier, waiting for my Mom, while watching students playing at the arcade. There was this guy on Drum Mania, and he kinda sucked in playing (teehee~ ^o^), but what caught my attention was that he chose the song CRAWL by VELTPUNCH. I immediately had a feeling of recognition, and then, when I heard it....

... ZOMGWTF it's the opening song for NABARI NO OU!!!!

Why is that song on Drum Mania!?!? I absolutely LOVE that song!!!! After seeing the opening theme once or twice, I usually skip them when I watch anime episodes. But this is another OP which I'd sit through and even sing along to. I like it that much!!! (And remind me to look up Veltpunch's discography!) Sadly, I can't say the same for the anime, which I started watching last 2010, but still haven't finished the last 4 episodes until now. It's not that bad, but I thought it has sooooooooo much potential, yet somehow just fell short to become a big disappointment.

It took me a while to recover from my excitement, after which, for the lack of better things to do, my Mom and I went to a hair salon so I can get a haircut. I decided to have some bangs again (since I really liked my new bangs before) and asked the stylist to trim my hair at shoulder level. I must say, like all my previous haircuts, that it was another bad experience. My first thought was, "OMG. I look like I just got off the set of Star Trek!" followed by "OMG. My hair is too short! Just a few more inches and I'll look like 猪大哥!!!" TAT

Ate, what part of my chin is called shoulder-length!?! ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

My Mom was so surprised (horrified!?) that the only thing she could say was, "Ah.. well, a new look is good too..." TAT *sigh* I keep telling myself that it will eventually grow back anyway. For now, I guess I'm stuck with this Star Trek look.

~ IMMORAL MEMORY ~

This is 背徳の記憶〜The Lost Memory〜. This is originally by vocaloids Kamui Gakupo, KAITO and Kagamine Len, but this video is actually a cover by RAI, Razzy and Yoru Sagara, who are individually quite popular in youtube, and I guess also in niconico. It's been a while since I've stumbled upon this video, but every time I listen to this, I just get blown away by the intensity and power of their voices. It's a really awesome cover, and IMO, even better than the original. And what's so amazing is that these guys are not even Japanese! Rai is Malaysian, Razzy is from the US and Yoru Sagara is just from the city next to mine! Yes, he's Filipino, and I would know cos he sang live during the TORCH cosplay event here last July. I didn't know who he was then. I was surprised to find out later that he really does great covers and has quite a following in youtube. I should have gotten an autograph and my picture taken with him. >__<

Well, I hope you enjoy this vid as much as I do. That Kamui Gakupo sure is yummy~

RANDOM-NESS!

I just got back from Malaybalay City. I have just ONE DAY to do a bunch of stuffs before I leave for Camiguin again on Wednesday. I need to do the following tomorrow (in no particular order):
- watch Clash of the Titans
- drop by PRC to get my license (note to self: MUST WEAR SHOES!)
- go to the bank, pay bills
- visit the dressmaker and have new smock gowns made
- blog, internet
- pack bags/prepare for work
- etc...

I hope I'll be able to accomplish all of these tomorrow. I tend to slack off and waste time, but unfortunately, time is not a leisure I can enjoy. Somehow, time passes so fast when I'm engrossed with work. I do enjoy earning my money, but I often wish I had more time to do things for myself, like blog and watch my DVDs and read my books, and more time to spend with my parents. Seems like I never get anything done lately. Reading Chi's blog entry about her allotting time for reading books and watching DVDs inspires me to do the same, although with my schedule, I just don't know how to do it. I actually have work scheduled until the end of May(!) already, though hopefully I might get a few days off and go to Manila(?)... Nyehehe, I'm not so sure yet.

Recently watched a bunch of Hollywood movies which I borrowed from Mam Cha, and also finished some animes. Currently I'm watching two Taiwanese dramas, THE ROSE and SUMMER x SUMMER. both are actually manga-based, and both coincidentally stars Joe Cheng. I like him and all but just can't bear to watch him play other roles besides Jiang Zhi Shu in It Started With A Kiss. Both series are actually quite OK, though I'm still on episode 8 of The Rose, and episode 3 of Summer x Summer. Well, more about these dramas next time.

I am currently quite stressed because I gave away my copy of Hakushaku to Yosei (Earl and Fairy) but realized that I don't have my own copy. Then I threw out my anime copy of Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge (Perfect Girl Evolution aka The Wallflower) cos I thought it was damaged, only to realize that I don't know where to get another copy and cannot find a site to download it from. I haven't watch both animes and I want these so badly for my collection and so I feel pretty distressed. Right now I cannot think straight because of these concerns. Or maybe I'm just too sleepy already.

To end this pointless entry, here's a really nice PV by supercell (recommended by Yume). It's the ending theme for Bakemonogatari, another great anime which I still have to procure.

And now I will sleep.

RE-ARRANGING MY COLLECTION

Because of my obsessive compulsive nature and my impulsive drive to download and hoard whatever anime I can get my hands on,
I have somehow amassed a huge number of CDs and DVDs. I've been planning to re-arrange them but never got around to doing it, until now. And goodness, I feel so tired already but I'm not finished yet! *fail* T___T

You see I'm very meticulous when it comes to arranging my things, especially my CD collection. This would always involve taking out ALL the discs and putting them back one by one in some sort of order (usually alphabetical, by genre, chronological, etc). In this case, I had to remove them from the zippered cases, and transfer some of them to spindle cases.

So when I have rearranged them a bit, I noticed that I have more zippered cases now. 6 of them are currently empty! Uh-oh... Does that mean I have to download more so that I can fill them up? Hehehe

I hardly touched my drama collection because they are already quite organized. Besides I haven't really procured a lot of dramas lately because I've been too lazy to watch them... Well, this pic here below is my Korean Drama Collection. The reason why there are so many CD cases is because we used to order them in VCD format from Manila. That was the time when Asian dramas are not so popular yet, and we had to order from Manila in order to get a copy with good quality and feed our obsession and craze. XD Not shown in the picture below are my Japanese Dramas (because they are contained elsewhere) and Taiwanese dramas (because there's really not that many titles, and they are in raw format with chinese subs).

I also got this huge CD Case from my boyfriend<3. It can hold around 100 CDs, so I used it for my Audio Collection. Most of the songs are Jpop and Jrock, and a little bit of Kpop too.

I'm not done yet though... This is just part one of my many struggles with rearranging my collection. Hopefully I can finish most of it by tomorrow or Sunday because I have to leave for work on Monday already. After this, my next project is to rearrange my room. Now THAT is definitely some super hard work I'm not so looking forward to. Hehehe

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some other random updates...
  • My mom is watching the K-drama, East of Eden. The Taiwanese channel, CTV, started airing it three nights ago, and my mom is TOO excited. But because of the bad weather lately, the reception is poor. And since my mom doesn't want to watch from the internet, and I refuse(!) to download 56(!) episodes of the drama, so I bought her a DVD9 copy instead. In fairness, the copy is quite clear with tolerable subs, so my mom is in such a happy-little-puppy mode, and watched straight until episode 8. She just went up to sleep, at 2:45am. XD
  • On a side note, I'm NOT watching East of Eden (EOE) yet, but Song Seung Heon is <3<3<3. I'm not really his fan, but I found him really attractive and appealing in the drama, Summer Scent (which I did NOT like), and in the movie, He Was Cool (with the late Jung Da Bin). In EOE, he has a rugged look which quite suits him. So... ^___^<3<3<3
  • I have just finished downloading the manga-based J-drama, Mei-Chan no Shitsuji (Mei-chan's Butler), which looks like a really interesting and fun series (with so many good looking boys to boot! Woohoo!). I'm currently downloading Cat Street, which is another drama based on the manga of Kamio Yoko (creator of Hana Yori Dango).
  • I've also downloaded a bunch of random manga scanlations and burned them into 3 DVDs (so that's around 12GB!). Some of them are of psychological genre (Monster, 20th Century Boys, etc) but most of them are romantic stories (Bitter Virgin, Koukou Debut, etc). Not reading them anytime soon though.
  • I'm currently loving songs by the duo, ON/OFF, composed of Naoya & Kazuya Sakamoto. They are actually identical twin brothers!<3<3<3 And I think they shot to fame with the song, Futatsu No Kodou To Akai Tsumi, the opening theme to Vampire Knight. Anyway, I love that song but I love all of their other songs too! ^____^
  • Fortunately, my tonsilitis did not worsen after I started taking some antibiotics. But unfortunately, I have a gnawing toothache that doesn't seem to go away. This really bothers me because I have to leave for work on Monday, and will be out of CDO for 16 days (be back on May 19!). So I hope it doesn't worsen because I don't have time to see a dentist anymore... I really hate toothaches! u__u
  • I will watch X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Sunday! But I don't know if I will still have the chance to watch Slumdog Millionaire (Jai HoOoOoOoOOoooOO!)...
  • I actually went brisk watching with Yume last Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, and it was really fun because we got to talk a lot and pretend to exercise. Yume and I are surprisingly pretty good friends when in fact we hardly knew each other before and just met during the CDOtaku beach party last year. I went to hoard some more of her DVDs, LOLz! We weren't able to go out walking on Thursday and Friday because of the rain, but we met for a bit on Friday evening because she wanted to tell me something. Then we went to scout some pirated DVDs in Divisoria before going our separate ways.
  • I'll be meeting Joey tomorrow later just to catch up and return some of her stuffs.
  • I need to prepare CDs for my cousin, Achi Beth, and for my friend from GenSan, Jan. I'm currently working on that now, plus Jan's letter too!
  • Oh, and I think Manny Pacquiao will win on Sunday. But that's just my baseless opinion...
Well, I guess I'll end it there for now because I got to get my not-so-beauty sleep or else my Father might get angry at me again for not sleeping early. Plus I have to clean the house again tomorrow, er, later... ^___<
JAI HO (YOU ARE MY DESTINY)
I'm not usually the type to listen to American music, but this music video/song by the Pussycat Dolls has caught my attention.
It's a remake of the Indian song Jai Ho from the Slumdog Millionaire OST.
I haven't seen the movie yet but seeing this MV made me feel some excitement. Hehehehe
I even shared this to my boyfriend and he caught the last song syndrome and kept saying, "Jai Ho!" earlier... LMAO!
I couldn't find a decent youtube video of this cos I guess they've been removed or otherwise unavailable in our region. I wonder why. But this youtube upload seems pretty OK except that they may look like they are lip-synching. XD
(Jai Ho)
(Jai Ho)I got (I got) shivers (shivers),
When you touch away,
I'll make you hot,
Get all you got,
I'll make you wanna say (Jai Ho)
(Jai Ho)
For you I will go all the way,
I keep it steady
Cuz steady is how I feel it.
You gon feel it.
(Jai Ho)You are the reason that I breathe,(Jai Ho)
You are the reason that I still believe,(Jai Ho)
I want you now,
I know you can save me, come and save me,
I need you now.
I am yours forever, yes, forever,
I will follow,
Anywhere in anyway,
Never gonna let go.
Jai Ho
(Jai Ho) Escape (escape) away (away),
I'll take you to a place,
This fantasy of you and me,
I'll never lose the chase. (Jai Ho)
Yeaahhhh (Jai Ho) Yeaahhhh
I can (I can) feel you (feel you),
Rushing through my veins,
There's an notion in my heart,
I will never be the same.
(Jai Ho)Just keep it burnin', yeah baby,
Just keep it comin', (Jai Ho)
You're gonna find out, baby,
I'm one in a million.
(Jai Ho)You are the reason that I breathe,(Jai Ho)
You are the reason that I still believe,(Jai Ho)
You are my destiny,
Jai Oh! Uh-uh-uh-oh!
(Jai Ho)No there is nothing that can stop us(Jai Ho)
Nothing can ever come between us(Jai Ho)
So come and dance with me,
Jai Ho! (oohh) (You and me, it's destiny)
Catch me, catch me, catch me, come and catch me,
I want you now,
I know you can save me, come and save me,
I need you now.
I am yours forever, yes, forever,
I will follow,
Anywhere in anyway,
Never gonna let go.
Jai Ho (Yeeeaaahh), Jai Ho (Yeeeaaahh), Jai Ho
I need you,
Gonna make it,(Jai Ho)
I'm ready,
So take it!
(Jai Ho)You are the reason that I breathe,(Jai Ho)
You are the reason that I still believe,(Jai Ho)
You are my destiny,
Jai Oh! Uh-uh-uh-oh!
(Jai Ho)No there is nothing that can stop us,(Jai Ho)
Nothing can ever come between us,(Jai Ho)
So come and dance with me,
Jai Ho! (oohh) (You and me, it's destiny)
Jai Ho!
FOUR HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOUTUBE VIDEOS!
Recently, some of my friends introduced me to some songs/music videos which I've really really grown to like...
My friend, Juhara, introduced me to this Trinidadian-Japanese singer named Thelma Aoyama who makes really great music.
Check her out in this PV featuring SoulJa...
Another friend, Yume, told me to check out this video by Tohoshinki,
more popularly known as the korean boyband TVXQ! (Dong Bang Shin Gi).
I haven't followed their progress but they've apparently grown up now and have extended their horizons.
TVXQ! Fighting! So here's...
Doushite Kimi o Suki ni Natte Shimattandarou?
This third video I got from Ate Yeyen's fanblog, My KJTDramas Blogged. It's the hot kpop boyband, Big Bang with their new single featuring the new girl group from YG Entertainment, 2NE1. Let's see if you can spot a VERY FAMILIAR PERSON in this PV. *grins* I thought she looks so much better now and seems to radiate a lot of energy and potentials. I hope she makes it big. Anyway, when I first heard this song I was really annoyed with it, but after listening to it over and over,
I got hooked, and so now it's my ringtone. LMAO!
This last one's from chi. She posted some links for the Gackt singles, which I greedily downloaded. Hohoho. Thanks so muchies!
I haven't been up to date with Gackt-sama's singles because I just have too many things in my mind. But listening to his deep voice is as soothing as always. This song is the opening theme for the tokusatsu, Kamen Rider Decade.
Hope you enjoy these PVs!
IDEAL LOVER
It's already been a year since I've watched Devil Beside You, but it's only recently that I've listened attentively to the lyrics of the song. I want to share it here because I find the message it conveys so beautiful! The translation is a bit rough, hehe, but please enjoy!
This is 理想情人 Li Xiang Qing Ren (Ideal Lover) by Rainie Yang.
HE WILL MAKE A WAY
When I first heard of the Don Moen Worship and Revival Concert, I was actually very interested to go. But since lately I’m sort of on a tight budget and I didn’t know who to go with, so I was having second thoughts. Then earlier today I finally decided not to go, and made plans to visit my friend Joey.
It was a last minute message around 3pm from Catherine that changed my mind. She said she got complimentary (read : FREE ^____^ ) tickets for us! Although the seats were a little far from the stage and we really can’t see Don Moen up close (aw... and no matter how we look at it, he IS a bishie even at his age ^o^<3), but we were still very happy because we were able to go to the concert!
The event was held at the Pelaez Sports Complex, and I guess there were around ten to fifteen thousand people who went worshipping GOD tonight! Praise GOD indeed! We sang lots of songs, some of which we’ve been singing since high school and have memorized by heart. But he has new songs too that touched and moved our hearts. One of these is He Never Sleeps from his latest album, Hiding Place.
To be honest, I’ve been having a lot of heavy burdens in my heart since last year. I’ve been feeling miserable and guilt-stricken, and I just can’t seem to get the load off. But recently, I’ve just given up struggling, and decided to simply lay it all down to GOD. It’s actually useless and tiring to run away all the time, when you can actually just run home into the loving and forgiving embrace of your Heavenly Father. I feel that the past two weeks I have more consciousness of GOD’s control in my life, and slowly, I want to return to Him. Slowly, I want to bring back that burning passion to always put GOD and His will first in my life.
And GOD knows my heart’s desires and He indeed makes a way! I feel that everything just fell right into place and we were able to attend tonight’s concert and experience spiritual revival and healing. It was so much fun, plus I feel so blessed and grateful and so fulfilled.
Yey-ness and praises for GOD!
P.S. The above video is beautifully made by the way. Whoever made it, thank you so much.
